How it all began
“From the start, I could tell she was kind, sweet, thoughtful, and patient. We make a great team!
— Travis
“I noticed at Orange Theory that everyone who had spent any time with him at all loved him and only had good things to say about him. When does a group of people ever collectively agree on the goodness of the same person? I was intrigued!”
— Bethany
Bethany & Travis
Believe it or not, Bethany and Travis met at Orange Theory Fayetteville — a place filled with good music, encouraging coaches, and people cheering each other on. They joined about a month apart, but it took around ten months of high‑energy classes and quick post‑workout chats before they really started getting to know each other.
They were both regulars at the Tuesday/Thursday night classes, showing up week after week for some movement, motivation, and (apparently) destiny.
Then came The Benchmark.
A one‑mile run. Travis flew through it in five minutes, which Bethany still claims should come with a superhero cape. She walked over, gave him a fist bump, and had her first “Hmmm… who is this guy?” moment.
After that, Bethany began her subtle strategy: parking next to Travis so they could walk out of class together. Totally casual. Totally unsuspicious.
(Spoiler: It worked perfectly.)
They eventually started hanging out in group settings outside of the gym, and a few weeks later had their first official date: Chick-fil-A and an outdoor movie in Travis’s backyard.
Romantic? Yes.
Simple? Yes.
On-brand for them? Absolutely.
From that date on, everything just clicked. 😊
Even though fitness brought them together, what truly sealed the deal was discovering they shared the same strong faith. Both were deeply involved in their churches, serving in ministries, and part of small groups — and realizing the other loved Jesus just as much was the biggest green flag of all.
As Travis likes to say: “We could plow a field together.”
(2 Con 6:14.)
A week after celebrating two years together, Travis proposed — back at Orange Theory, the place that unknowingly started it all. It was the perfect full‑circle moment.
And the rest is history.
Now they’re here, grateful for every blessing God has given them so far and excited for all that’s ahead. They’re especially looking forward to finding ways to serve together throughout their marriage — and yes, still cheering each other on in workouts, too.
